Racing Experience

2007 - Atlantic Championship - Seventh Overall
Racing as the only driver for Newman Wachs Racing, I was the top placed U.S. rookie and second placed U.S. driver in the series. My best finish was second at Clevelend, and I scored 7 top 10 and 2 top 5 finishes. A challenging year that leaves me better prepared for the future.

2006 - Cooper Tires Formula Ford 2000 Championship - Overall Champion
Winning a record setting 12 of 14 races, I also set records for most cosecutive victories in a season at seven, most laps lead in a season and most poles in a season on my way to the championship. It has been an amazing year that gave me a number of opportunities going forward.

2005 - Team USA Scholarship Program - Third Overall in Formula Palmer Audi Autumn Cup
In my first experience overseas, I gained a tremendous amount of knowledge about racing, and showed quite well against greatly experienced drivers in the UK. Having never been to the tracks nor driven the cars, it was a great opportunity to broaden my horizons for the future.

2005 - Pacific F2000 Series: Zetec Formula Ford - Second Overall and Rookie of the Year
With two wins, nine podiums and 10 top fives in just 12 races I comleted my first year of professional racing exceeding expectations. Had it not been for a string of unfortunate events in the last weekend I would have been champion, but regardless I learned an incredible amount.

2005 - Cooper Tires Championship Series: Zetec FF2000
I raced with this series on four occaisions in 2005, twice at Cleveland and twice at VIR. At Cleveland I picked up a second and third, the top American both races. At VIR I was immediately second fastest in the rain on a circuit I had never driven and continued with that speed through the weekend, but had dissapointing results as I was forced off by a lapper, then had to battle my way through the field, eventually finishing third.

2004 - SCCA Formula Russell Championship Series - Overall Champion and Rookie of the Year
I competed in the 19 race 2004 SCCA Formula Russell Championship Series, finishing the series with seven wins, 11 podiums, 13 top fives, and 15 top tens in my first year racing cars.

2004 - Red Bull Driver Search
I was a part of the Red Bull Driver Search, working my way to Sebring through the West Coast karting event at Infineon Raceway, though I would be notified that I had been a scouted driver the entire time. At Sebring, I was a consistent front-runner and was one of twelve to make the final cut. Although I was not one of the three chosen for the finals due to some unforntunate circumstances, I was informed later by Danny Sullivan that I was "very close."

2003 - Jim Russell Graduate Runoffs - Overall Winner
The Jim Russell Graduate Runoffs (GRO) is open to Jim Russell Racing School graduates who do not have significant auto racing experience. The competition included a number of nationally recognized karting stars, including Wes Boswell, Robbie Pecorari, and Cole Nelson. I was one of 46 entered, and advanced through the competition to claim the overall first place, earning a free year of racing in the SCCA Formula Russell Championship Series for 2004 in the Russell Formula Mazda cars.

2003 - Jim Russell Championship Series - Jr 80 - 2nd place in Championship
In my first experience in a shifter kart, I contended for the championship against several more experienced SKUSA/Stars drivers. If not for total brake failure in the last race, I might have won the championship. Still, I finished second in the championship, winning three out of the six races.

2002 - Jim Russell Arrive and Drive Sprint Kart Series Champion
I competed in this championship series as the only minor in the TaG 125 class. In my first race, I not only beat the other Russell competitors, but finished first overall in the combined race with the more experienced TaG 125 light class. I went on to win the championship with four wins out of six races.

Racing Schools
I was one of 24 drivers chosen to attend the initial Formula BMW USA School in Valencia, Spain. I gained valuable experience driving a state-of-the-art carbon fiber BMW FB2 car, and showed well against a number of more experienced drivers.

I attended the Russell Karting School, and also participated in the Jim Russell Techniques of Racing Course, where my performance impressed a number of the instructors whose encouragement led to my entry into the Graduate Runoffs.

Other items of interest
I recently graduated early from Redwood High School in Corte Madera, where I played varsity baseball and maintained over a 4.0 GPA, due to a challenging schedule including honors and AP classes. I am a member of the California Scholarship Federation and the Redwood High School Honor Society.
