Indianapolis, Ind. May 27, 2009 J.R. Hildebrand, of Sausalito, California, will head to the historic Milwaukee Mile this weekend for Round Six of the Firestone Indy Lights Series. He enters the weekend with the championship points lead, after finishing a strong second in the Freedom 100 last week. Hildebrand arrived at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway sitting fourth in points following some bad luck with a flat tire in the previous round, but got back on track in strong form. He now heads on to Milwaukee with the momentum to continue his teams charge to the championship.

J.R. Hildebrand, of Sausalito, California, made his debut as the race driver for Team USA in the A1GP World Cup of Motorsports this weekend on the famed Brands Hatch GP Circuit in Kent, England, showing great speed all weekend in a tough international field. Hildebrand was never out of the top five through all three practice sessions, took the team's best ever qualifying position of fourth for the Sprint Race finishing fourth in that race, then unfortunately he ran into some trouble in both the Feature Race qualifying and race, but had the pace of the leaders all along.

J.R. Hildebrand, of Sausalito, California, was looking good for a solid finish in the Kansas Lottery 100 after qualifying on the second row and easily running with the leaders early in the race. Unfortunately, a slowly deflating right-rear tire eventually went flat and ended his fight prematurely. He was able to hang on and get the car to the pits to change tires without crashing, but ended up with a 14th-place finish (three laps down). The result keeps him in the top five in points, just 14 points out of first.

Fresh from victory in the Firestone Indy Lights series in America last weekend (19 April), J.R. Hildebrand will be stepping up to the race seat for A1 Team USA. The 21-year-old Californian earned his second career victory on the streets of Long Beach last weekend and after taking part in the rookie sessions in Malaysia, New Zealand and South Africa for A1 Team USA, Hildebrand will get the chance to join the racing action when he takes over for the Brands Hatch event on May 1st through 3rd.
"It's unfortunate that Marco has to stay in the US to get ready for the 500, but I'm thrilled to get this opportunity," noted J.R.

J.R. Hildebrand, of Sausalito, California, led every lap after qualifying on the pole to take a dominant win on the streets of Long Beach in the Firestone Indy Lights race this past weekend. Hildebrand and his Andretti Green/AFS Racing #26 team are now squarely back in the title fight after a frustrating start to the season in St. Petersburg, just seven points out of the championship lead, in third place overall.

J.R. tested the AGR Formula Dream sponsored Dallara at Kansas yesterday, completing 200 miles at speeds equal or comparable to the other runners there. As the test was run at Kansas, it wasn't possible for J.R. to make flight connections to get him to Portugal in time for A1GP rookie practice Friday morning, so he'll miss the opportunity to help Marco Andretti get ready for the A1GP race there.

After qualifying on pole for the Saturday race in the ARPRO Andretti Green Racing/AFS Dallara, J.R. Hildebrand had set a high bar, and was ready to back up the expectations. J.R. followed up strongly Saturday morning, qualifying for Race 2 with the second fastest time, but due to the split qualifying format, was put in the third starting spot.
