J.R. Hildebrand, of Sausalito, California, had another strong showing of pace and ability this past weekend in his second race in the IZOD IndyCar Series at Infineon Raceway, but was forced to retire early after an incident just after the halfway point. Hildebrand ran consistently in the top 10 throughout practice, and while he was unable to translate that pace into a strong result in qualifying as expected, he picked up where he left off in Sundays race. Before making contact with Marco Andretti on Lap 38, Hildebrand set the fastest lap of the race and ran as high as third while working an off-sequence fuel strategy.

J.R. Hildebrand, of Sausalito, California, showed strong pace while gaining a tremendous amount of experience in his IndyCar Series debut this past weekend at the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. With just one day of testing prior to the event, Hildebrand came out of the gates with surprising speed jumping up into the top ten in the first practice. With a tough draw in qualifying, the young Californian narrowly missed advancing through in the knockout-style session and would having his work cut out for himself in the race. Although a few uncharacteristic mistakes hampered his progress, Hildebrand impressed with his consistently strong pace and on-track moves. He will now look to make the most of his experience at his home track of Infineon Raceway in just two weeks.

At least J.R. Hildebrand will be familiar with the surroundings at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and Infineon Raceway.
The 2009 Firestone Indy Lights champion will compete in the No. 24 Dreyer & Reinbold Racing car at the natural-terrain road courses in August. Hildebrand, 22, of Sausalito, Calif., will make his IZOD IndyCar Series debut Aug. 6-8 in the Honda Indy 200 presented by Westfield Insurance, filling in for the injured Mike Conway. He'll return Aug. 20-22 at Infineon Raceway, which he describes as his "home track."

J.R. Hildebrand, of Sausalito, California, made his second start in the American Le Mans Series last weekend joining Genoa Racing in the LMPC category at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Having won the Indy Lights Series race at the event just one year ago, Hildebrand excitedly took the opportunity to attempt to make it two in a row at the famed street circuit. Although he and teammate Tom Sutherland could only manage third in class at the end of the day, Hildebrand's dramatic stint during the first half of the race that put them in the early lead was one to watch.

J.R. Hildebrand, of Sausalito, California, along with Genoa Racing teammates Andy Wallace and Tom Sutherland endured a trying day to finish second in the new LMPC class at this year's 58th running of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. After starting from the back of the grid due to a minor technical infraction in qualifying, the team battled the traffic and the intense effects of the tire pickup caused by different tire compounds being used by the different classes. After making their way up the standings, they then had to rally again to make up for a mistake on track along with a fuel-related mechanical failure. The team persevered to take a well-deserved podium finish.

J.R. Hildebrand recently tested with Genoa Racing in the new LMPC Class alongside Andy Wallace and Larry Connor at the Sebring Winter Test. It was Hildebrand's first time in a true prototype-style sportscar and also his first on the full circuit at Sebring International, but he and the rest of the team were quickly up to speed and got straight to work on the new racecar. The LMPC Class is new in the ALMS for 2010, so the team spend a good part of both days learning about the car and getting used to it's behavior, eventually setting the quickest time in class at the test.

J.R. Hildebrand ran a full day test with Dale Coyne Racing at Sebring International Raceway today. As is often the case in the winter in Florida, things started late in the morning and ran into the late afternoon. The team was preparing for the early races on the IndyCar calendar, so their program focused on running the car at ride heights that will likely be called for on the expected surfaces at Sao Paulo Brazil in the season opener.
